Scott St. Pierre has been teaching in the Saskatoon Public School Division (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) for 14 years. While he started out as a middle years teacher with a Physical Education degree, his interest and passion for use of technology in education was apparent from the beginning of his career. From building a computer lab with 20 old computers and spare parts in his first school to teaching teachers to how to incorporate technology in their classrooms to his most recent position as an Instructional Technology Leader in one of Saskatoon’s collegiates, Scott has gained a reputation as a “go to guy” when looking for ways to support student learning with technology. This fall, Scott will start in his new position as the Educational Technologist for Collegiate Renew, within the Saskatoon Public Schools.
In his spare time, Scott is an avid photographer and takes on contracts to photograph products and events, occasionally designing promotional campaigns. His work has been seen in publications such as Western Living magazine. He was fortunate to be given the opportunity to develop a digital photography program, with a colleague and good friend Ivan Tam, that he has taught for the past 7 years. Scott spent many years, until 2006, coaching the University of Saskatchewan Track & Field Team, the last few as the Associate Head Coach, and helped lead the program to 7 national championship titles. These successes lead to the opportunity to work with the Canadian National Track & Field Team program for 6 years. He also organizes sporting events for local schools, the University of Saskatchewan as well as international events throughout North America.
Scott is currently a graduate student in Educational Technology & Design at the University of Saskatchewan, where his is researching how authentic student engagement can be supported by blended learning environments.
