
Paula White is a 30+ year veteran teacher who exemplifies lifelong learning. Currently an elementary Gifted Resource Teacher, Paula’s classroom experience encompasses all subjects at all grade levels, K-5, including combos at K-1 and 2-3 and looping with her classes many times. She has produced award winning visual arts projects and websites with students in grades K-5, and recently spent seven summers supporting adults in using technology and art at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. to create digital stories and podcasts. Paula’s leading-edge work with technology goes beyond the classroom as she regularly presents at state and national conferences and served on the original NETS for Teachers Development Team for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
As a teacher leader, she began the first wireless laptop lab in Albemarle County, VA over 10 years ago and has been honored locally, nationally and internationally for her transformational teaching. In addition, Paula has written or been featured in articles in professional journals including the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics’ Teaching Children Mathematics and the International Society for Technology’s Learning and Leading with Technology. Description: I will be sharing and facilitating a discussion around some of the work my kids have produced on the web. Together, we’ll analyze them for traditional school skills and look at how we can use work like this to replace assessments like multiple choice high stakes tests.
